How to Handle Ticker Changes

What should you do when a ticker changes or is being renamed? For instance, in the case of USX:HMI being renamed USX:ZEPP.

You can easily port your transactions over to the newly-named ticker with the following steps:

  1. Go to this page
  2. For Symbol (Old), enter the old ticker (USX:HMI in this case).
Note: The exchange prefix (USX:) must be included*.
  3. For Symbol (New), enter the new ticker (USX:ZEPP in this case).
Note: The exchange prefix (USX:) must be included*.
  4. For Stock Split Ratio (Old), enter 1.
  5. For Stock Split Ratio (New), enter 1.
  6. For Stock Split Date, enter the date the ticker change happened.
  7. Click Split to save.

*For inactive tickers, it will not show up in auto-complete, but it is still possible to add the transaction if you include the exchange prefix (SGX:, HKEX:, USX:, LSE:, etc).
